POST-PARTUM DEPRESSION GROUP THERAPY (Virtual)

Does This Sound Familiar?

•    “I am a bad mom,”

•    “It comes so easily to other women, why am I so unhappy?”

•    “I should be happy to be a mother, what’s wrong with me?”

•    “I can’t stop crying. I cry at everything.”

•    “I don’t enjoy motherhood, I never thought this would be me.”

If you have any of these thoughts looping in your mind…
it’s normal, and you’re not alone!

Did you know?

•    1 in 5 women in BC experience post-partum depression, anxiety, and other concerns related to Reproductive Mental Health.

•    23% of mothers in Canada as a whole experience post-partum depression or anxiety disorders.

Becoming a mother is a huge transition!

Nothing truly prepares you for the roller coaster of emotions that you will have as a mother - excitement, dread, fear, curiosity, love, worry.

For some women, the love for their newborn baby is evident and automatic, but that’s not the case for everyone. Some women suffer silently to varying degrees from experiencing the “baby blues,” to post-partum depression.

Wherever you are on that spectrum of post-partum emotions, I see you. It’s not easy.

You will leave this group feeling understood, empowered, and supported with greater insight and tools to help navigate this role called motherhood. It does get better!

What is the Value of Group Therapy?

•  A Support System.  As mothers, we often feel isolated and alone.  Bringing together a group of women who can openly share their experiences in this journey of motherhood is incredibly powerful.

•   Instilling Hope and Motivation. In a group setting, we can hear and learn from one another creating a sense of belongingness.

•   Identifying unhealthy patterns as they occur. Our own thought patterns and behaviors come up more readily in a group setting. This allows for the therapist to highlight these patterns as they occur in the context of being a mother. You are offered the space to really feel your emotions, and move through them, with the support of the group.

Group Process

  • This is a psycho-therapeutic group, and a support group.

  • As your therapist and group facilitator, I am committed to making this group a safe place for you to land, share your stories and struggles openly and honestly.
